The most beautiful photos of Lebanon in Winter

The name Lebanon comes from the Semitic root lbn (in Phoenician 𐤋𐤁𐤍) meaning “white” or “milk”, in reference to the snow cover that covers the Lebanese mountains in winter. This name is dated to at least 2900 BC. JC, always in reference to this snow, which gave it during the 20th century the famous maxim according to which it was possible to ski in the morning and swim in the afternoon. Every year, many photographers immortalize this snow, from Bcharré to Mzaar Kfardebian via Chouf. Here is a small selection of photos from recent winters in Lebanon! The city of Jounieh

Welcome to Jounieh, the Lebanese city par excellence: it concentrates sports activities, clubbing, picturesque landscapes, sea, mountains, and more... Located just 20 km north of Beirut, Jounieh is a coastal city with unique features. Ideally located below a 550 meter mountainous promontory, it charms visitors with its landscape worthy of the most beautiful postcards. It even has a “U” shaped bay, unique in the world. Jounieh is home to a huge statue of the virgin called Our Lady of Lebanon. She is to the Lebanese what Christ the King of Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro is to the Brazilians. It's a perfect place to look out over Jounieh Bay from a colorful egg-shaped gondola. The city of Jounieh also hosts the largest casino in Lebanon and the entire Middle East. It is located north of the city. It is also in Jounieh that we find the Lebanese Heritage Museum where many cultural and historical objects are exhibited. Located on the seaside, the Jounieh region stands out for its green waters on the shore and darker waters in the distance. It features a fascinating multicolored landscape composed essentially

The Gouffre des Trois Ponts, sublime Tannourine waterfall in Balaa

The Gouffre des Trois Ponts, or Gouffre de Baatara, is an incredible waterfall 250 meters deep and 260 meters wide, located not far from the village of Balaa, and dug by water for millions of years. I discovered this place during an eco-tourist expedition with the Vamos Todos club (which I recommend), far from the hubbub of Beirut nightlife and to enjoy what is most beautiful in Lebanon: the nature. So we left on a bus and after a few hours of traveling in a festive and good-natured atmosphere, we arrived in Taanourine. A few minutes walk from the bus, we discovered this impressive chasm. A panorama that left us speechless. The group then organized themselves to begin the festivities. At the end of a walk across these three stacked bridges, we divided into three groups for three different activities: climbing, abseiling and ziplining. An unforgettable day, experienced thanks to Vamos Todos, and their superb vision of ecotourism in Lebanon. After some strong sensations and a lot of physical exertion, we rested at the beginning of the afternoon, before

Walk in the heart of the Forest of the Cedars of God, in North Lebanon

Visiting Lebanon without going to Bcharré to discover the famous Cedar Forest would be an outrage on the region's heritage. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cedars of God forest still contains a few cedars, emblems of Lebanon. Walking among these natural monuments provides an exceptional feeling. The forest, located 2 hours from Beirut, constitutes a real place of pilgrimage for many Lebanese who live abroad. Victim of massive deforestation, the Lebanese mountain has managed to preserve a green space, where this exceptional site currently stands. The Cedars of God forest sits atop Mount Lebanon, a mountain range that fits perfectly into a breathtaking landscape. The place often receives many visitors from different countries around the world, but especially Lebanese living abroad. The cedar is a national symbol. The tree also adorns the country's flag. It impresses visitors with the length of its needles which can reach 3 to 3.5 cm. It has female cones that can reach up to 10 cm long. Long a victim of felling, this splendid tree would, according to legend, allow

The Cedars of Chouf

Small villages with typically Lebanese architecture, numerous hiking trails suitable for all levels, the largest protected area in Lebanon invites you to discover the cedar forest, carefully guarded in the Barouk nature reserve, at 1170 m altitude . A magical place which extends over an area of 500 km², sheltering more than three million trees (oak, juniper, pine) and three large cedar forests: Aain Zhalta-Bmahray, Barouk and Maasser El-Chouf. From the Cedar Mountain, panoramic views of the Bekaa Valley and Lake Qaraoun are available to you to the East. And to the West, the expanse of blue ocean of the Mediterranean. You will also not fail to notify the presence of an artificial lake, specially created by Japan, to extinguish a possible fire. An impressive variety of fauna and flora makes up the Cèdres du Chouf reserve including: 500 species of plants, 200 species of birds and 32 species of wild animals (wolves, lynx, gazelles, hyenas, etc.) Mainly appreciated for its impressive cascades and waterfalls, the Cèdres nature reserve is also popular for its thousand-year-old trees, over 2000 years old. Welcome to the Libshop Travel Guide, the guide to the best places to visit in Lebanon by Libshop. See this post on Instagram A post shared by ألف وتمانمية وخمسين 1850 (@1850.btelaya) Btelaya is a piece of nature nestled at an altitude of 1850m – hence the name of the campsite – in the magnificent region of Ehden, where a farm was installed by an ancient Lebanese family. Since then, the grandchildren have decided to make this region known and launched a project halfway between a lodge and a campsite. Jeita Grotto, a wonder of nature to discover in Lebanon

Want a legendary discovery in Lebanon, mixing geological knowledge and visual pleasure? Visit the Jeita Cave, a true Lebanese gem that is the pride of the locals and the passion of tourists. Located 18 km north of Beirut, in the Nahr el-Kelb valley, the Jeita Cave is home to marvelous natural sculptures. Discovered in 1836 by the Reverend William Thompson, an American missionary, it plunges more than 50 meters deep, following the course of a river which ends in a lake near the entrance, the “Black Lake”. These lower galleries are explored by canoe over a route of approximately 600 m. However, access to this part of the cave is prohibited in winter because the water level is too high. The upper part, located 60 meters above the lower cave, is accessible via an artificial footbridge. These upper galleries are particularly dry and represent the original state of the Jeita site, before the great geological changes which caused the movement of the underground river to its current location. On foot, you access a 120 m long tunnel to admire a fantastic landscape of vaults, stalagmitic pillars, gours, draperies,
