We went to see this year's event exhibition of the Institut du Monde Arabe: DIVAS, from Oum Kalthoum to Dalida, to be seen from May 19 to September 26, 2021. This exhibition paints the portrait of the great women artists of the 20th century Arab music and cinema.
On the menu, a two-storey tour and 1,000 m² of exhibition space to discover the golden age of 20th century Arab music and culture. From feminist pioneers to timeless legends, this exhibition is a true proof of love for all the actresses, singers and artists who shaped the Pan-Arab era, mainly under the era of Gamal Abdel Nasser.
We thus discover in turn, the incredible journeys of the unbeatable Oum Kalthoum, but also of Warda, Fairouz, Asmahan, Hoda Chaaraoui, Souad Hosni and many others.
An exhibition not to be missed, therefore, and to be devoured at the IMA, at 1 Rue des Fossés Saint-Bernard, 75005 Paris.
